At the Ani DiFranco concert

Posted by jonesey on Thursday, 17 April 2008, 0:23

The scene: The men’s bathroom at the historic McDonald Theater, Eugene, Oregon

The year: 2008

The players: He, She 1, She 2

[Enter He. She 1 is washing her hands at the sink, back to He. He has been to an Ani concert before and doesn’t miss a beat, heads over to take care of business. She 2 is in the stall closer to the door doing the same.]

She 1: [washes hands, glances around. Raises eyebrows. Does not look at self in mirror.]

She 2: [flushes.]

He: [still taking care of business.]

She 1 [to She 2]: Don’t come out, there’s a guy in here.

He: Don’t worry about me, come on out. [Smiles to self at his little quip. Zips up, heads to sink.]

She 2: [washes hands at sink. Does not look at self in mirror.]

He: It’s no problem, I know you’re not …

She 2 [stepping mercilessly on He‘s line]: We’re not looking at you anyway.

[Exit She 2. He heads for the door.]

He [addressing crowd of Shes waiting in line outside men’s bathroom]: Come on in, the coast is clear.

[Exeunt]

I’m sorry, could you repeat that please?

Warning: This post is rated “I”, for Immature. It contains language not suitable for anyone over the age of 13.

I didn’t like the score, but the 13-year-old boy in me LOVED this headline.

In case some editor had the good sense to modify the original headline, here’s a screen shot:

yanks wang

“Yanks’ Wang?” Brilliant.

Of course, they passed on the greatest Yankees / Red Sox Wang-related headline opportunity way back on August 18, 2006, when Wang, um, outdueled Johnson.

Sometimes it’s just too good to resist.
